JAVA/ J2EE Application Developer / Software Engineer
Herndon or McLean, VA
Status: Full Time
One of our clients is seeking several experienced Java /J2EE Application Developers to support a full lifecycle software development and payroll modernization effort for one of our intelligence community projects.*
This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph. Candidates who do not have this clearance will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
The Application Developer/ Software Engineer is responsible for working on multi-disciplinary end-to-end solutions including the design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and operations of large-scale web-based systems. Strong experience in software engineering, architecture, design, and development is required. Knowledge of JDK 1.5 and web-based applications (e.g. Tomcat, Apache) is a plus.
Additional responsibilities may include a combination of the following:
• Conceptualizes, designs, constructs, tests, and implements portions of business and technical information technology solutions through application of appropriate software development life cycle methodology.
• Interacts with the customer to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context and organizational strategic direction.
• Defines scope, plans and deliverables for assigned projects.
• Collects, identifies, defines, and organizes detailed user and information technology requirements.
• Coordinates and collaborates with others in analyzing collected requirements to ensure plans and identified solutions meet customer needs and expectations.
• Confirms and prioritizes project plans and deliverables with the customer.
• Participates in business and technical information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and conversions.
• Understands and uses appropriate tools to analyze, identify and resolve business and/or technical problems.
• Applies metrics to monitor performance and measure key project criteria.
• Prepares system documentation.
• Establishes and maintains security, integrity and business continuity controls and documents.
• Participates in special studies, marketing efforts and formal proposals.
• Stays current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies.
* This position is contingent on award of contract. It is not immediately billable, but is reflective of upcoming requirements within our organization.
Required Skills:
5-9 years experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, related field, or Equivalent**
• Strong experience in software engineering, architecture, design, and development is required.
• JAVA, J2EE
• Candidates must have excellent problem-solving abilities, ability to provide alternative solutions, and strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Candidates must be able to operate and function in a fast paced, fluid environment
** Military training or associates degree, plus equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Desired Skills:
