Performance QA Engineer

As a Performance QA Engineer you will ensure that our rapidly growing number of online retail sites and underlying business applications are fast, scalable and operate with highest level of reliability. In this role you'll design, configure and run best-in-class load and stress tests, collect scalability and performance data, analyze test data, document and publish results. You will also collaborate closely with the Development and Systems teams to prioritize and devise performance test plans for new system functionalities.

You will work with a collaborative group of QA engineers and the QA Manager in this position.

Desired Experience and Skills:

* A desire to make work fun and enjoyable (this is first on the list for a reason)
* Knowledge and understanding of at least one of the following programming languages (Perl, Java, C++, C#, Python, PHP)
* A minimum of two years experience with performance testing enterprise web applications
* A love for finding bugs and making software bullet-proof
* Knowledge and working experience with enterprise performance and reliability testing / load generation tools such as HP (formerly Mercury) LoadRunner or similar. Alternatively, working knowledge of open source performance/load generation tools like JMeter or WebLoad.
* Experience with system monitor tools such as perfmon
* Knowledge of Java environments including memory management, garbage collection and collection classes
* Capability to perform performance test tool assessments and communicate results/recommendations
* Excellent diagnostic, analytical and problem solving capabilities
* Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
* A BS in Computer Science or Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
* Experience creating and maintaining automated performance test frameworks/harnesses
* Working knowledge of software testing methodologies
* Experience working on web-based, database driven systems
* Working knowledge of SQL and databases
* Experience with large-scale ERP or ecommerce systems
* Experience with web services
* Experience with high-volume transactional systems
* Experience with the Linux operating system
* An understanding of the software development life-cycle
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as an important part of this job is communicating effectively with developers and managers
