Our client is located in Bay area. They are looking for someone who has worked on high-traffic web services. The right candidate should be able to understand requirements, perform capacity analysis & service configuration with the following skills:
Duties:
* Manage Java-based web applications
* Performance tuning, manage Postgres databases, author SQL, data-warehousing
* Application development, network security, documentation, manage linux-based environments hosting the client's infrastructure: Apache, Subversion, Resin application server etc
* Be actively involved in decision making.
* Documentation, implement network security
Required Technical skills:
* 4 years + experience with GNU/Linux (or Unix).
* Experience with high traffic websites (Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Change management).
* Good understanding of IP Networking and devices (preferably Cisco). Should be able to analyze network behavior, use tools like tcpdump, failure modes of networking devices and application issues.
* Strong scripting skills (shell/bash/python), troubleshooting & performance tuning skills & understanding of networking protocols
* Understanding of secured networking protocols
Competencies:
* Good communication (verbal & written), problem solving, analytical & organizational skills.
* Should be able to work on-call duty as well as out-of -band requests.
* High standards for technical documentation
* Ability to work as part of a close-knit, cross-functional team with both technical and non-technical team members.
* Ability to prioritize work queue & have ownership, urgency & drive.
