Our client, located in Albany, NY is currently in need of a Sr. Programmer/Analyst for a 12-month contract assignment.
Our customer is forming an independent team consisting of one technical lead and two Java/J2EE programmers who, after a methodical knowledge transfer process, can work as the primary maintenance team for the existing java/J2EE common services applications. This team would be responsible for receiving maintenance requests, evaluating, analyzing, scheduling, coding, testing and deploying according to established agency RUP (Rational Unified Process) procedures. Detailed metrics will be designed and developed to confirm the requested work is done and within the desired timeframe.
The team, once an accelerated knowledge transfer is complete, will be expected to independently support the common services applications including the monitoring of production performance, coding of all programmatic changes and troubleshooting of any production issues. They will also serve as the first point of contact for all users of the common services applications. The team will also be expected to transfer the knowledge acquired to state staff. This team will mentor the state staff until they are at a point where the state staff can effectively support the common services applications.
The Programmer III will be responsible for:
-Review of all change request/enhancements.
-Analysis of the existing code.
-Coding, testing and debugging of all changes per established procedures and using standardized "best practices".
-Strict adherence to the current deployment policies and procedures.
-Documentation of all changes per established agency guidelines.
-Timely completion of programming assignments.
-Updating of technical documents following the agency's RUP procedures.

The following requirements are mandatory - candidates that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for this assignment:
- Eight (8) years experience in IT application development with a minimum of two (2) years JAVA/J2EE programming experience.
- Candidate must have strong knowledge of Object Oriented methodology including design patterns.
In addition to the required skills listed above, candidates must possess a minimum of ten (10) of the preferred skills listed below:
- 2 years experience using JSP, Servlets, Portlet API's (JSR 168)
- 2 years experience using Java Script
- 2 years experience using JSF
- 2 years experience using J2EE Design Patterns
- 2 years experience using EJB 3.0
- 2 years experience using Hibernate
- 2 years experience using Spring
- 2 years experience using Ant
- 2 years experience using XML
- 2 years experience using UML Modeling
- 2 years experience using JDBC
- 2 years experience using JUnit testing
- 2 years experience using PL/SQL
- Experience developing and deploying applications for Websphere Application Server version 5.x.
- Experience in distributed technology with recent emphasis on J2EE, including EJB and MDB.
- Familiar with Software Change, Configuration Management and Build Processes in a complex environment of re-usable Java components.
- Experience writing technical specifications from functional specifications and collaborating with business analysts to understand functional specifications.
- knowledge of UML Modeling tools such as Rational Modeler. Including knowledge of Use Cases, Context Diagrams, Domain Models, sequence Diagrams and Object Diagrams.
- Knowledge of Oracle and PL/SQL.
- Experience in SOA
- Experience with core software engineering concepts, control structures, data structures, fundamental algorithms, error and exception handling.
