Immediate contract opening for a senior Unix / redhat LINUX ADMINISTRATOR.
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 months
The UNIX/LINUX Administrator will provide level 3 and SME architecture, design, implementation and support for a large and diverse Linux/UNIX infrastructure in a fast paced and high achieving environment.
The successful candidate must have a strong knowledge of networking and storage concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
• To provide expert level design and development of Linux, UNIX infrastructure.
• Serve as a point of contact, SME, and provide technical oversight and accountability for all Linux/UNIX support requirements and outage resolutions.
• Collaborate with and influence other service lines and EA global teams to ensure the appropriate architecture, implementation and support of IT infrastructure.
• Drive continuous improvement of Linux/UNIX through frequent analysis and review of system performance and resource requirements.
• Engage in capacity planning and infrastructure roadmap development.
• Responsible for the discovery, evaluation and recommendation of new technology, processes and procedures.
• Oversee future implementations and/or upgrades and ensure that support standards are met.
• Perform special projects and departmental initiatives as needed.
• Ensure technical documentation is kept up to date (run books, application and process diagrams, system information, technical documents).
• Collaborate and maintain working relationships with appropriate technology vendor Participate in and ensure adherence to the change management, incident management, problem management and release management process.
Required Skills:
• Strong experience in UNIX systems administration specifically Redhat Enterprise.
• Expert level knowledge of the setup/configuration of Linux/UNIX systems, Kernel/OS upgrades, Patch upgrades, modules/driver installation.
• Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience in a multi platform Unix environment.
• Experience in building large scale, high availability, load balancing, clustering and end to end software solution.
• Basic Project management skills with experience in successfully leading short projects involving outside teams.
• Good understanding of IP networking and OSI layer architecture.
• Solid scripting skills in shell. Perl is a plus.
• Server virtualization detail knowledge & Setup experience in XEN/VMWare.
Other Experience:
• System provisioning/imaging, kixstart, jumpstart, system imager.
• Redhat cluster configuration.
• System performance analysis/ system troubleshooting.
• Apache/Tomcat setups.
• Application installation.
• MySQL experience.
• Knowledge of Intel & DELL HW.
• Must have clear understanding of Oracle DB and LAN and WAN network concepts.
Ideal candidate shall have the following skills:
• BS - computer science / Engineering .
• 8+ years of IT infrastructure experience (preferably in system administration).
• Minimum 6+ years Linux UNIX expertise.
• Minimum 4+ years Vitualization ( Redhat Xen as well as ESX) experience.
• Must have at least 4+ years of experience in a high demand 24x7 on-call environment.
