Position Overview:
As a Senior Java Developer working within the Product Development or Professional Services team, you will be involved in designing, developing and delivering new features and enhancements to the Elastic Path enterprise e-commerce product line. During these projects, you will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including planning, technical design, construction, peer reviews, documentation, testing and deployment. You will be making heavy use of the latest & greatest technologies such as, AJAX, Spring and Web Services, so a craving for learning new things is a must.
In contrast to more traditional software shops, we follow an Agile approach to software development including: short iterations, lots of face-to-face communication, our beloved wiki, friendly high-trust environment, continuous integration and automation, weekly peer reviews, buddying developers with QA engineers, keeping processes as simple as possible, frequent retrospectives, we could go on and on.
The bottom line is that we are passionate about Agile software development and you should be too!
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understand user and business requirements.
• Technical design and implementation of business solutions.
• Develop code and ensuring that the technology will deliver value.
• Assist and mentor other developers.
Required Qualifications:
• Six or more years' software development experience, three of them in J2EE development
• Experience with Java script, HTML, CSS and AJAX
• Proficient in Java / J2EE web application development (JSP, Servlets, Spring, etc.)
• Experience building large-scale software applications in a team environment
• Experience with at least one of the following databases: Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL
• Experience with at least one of the following Java application server; Tomcat, BEA Weblogic, IBM WebSphere, and JBoss
• Experience with test driven development
• Experience with at least one version control system
• Design patterns
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
Optional Qualifications:
The following skills are not required, but will be considered an asset:
• Spring framework
• Velocity
• Eclipse RCP / SWT (or Java Swing, AWT)
• EJB or another Object/Relational mapping framework
• Ant / Maven
• Web Services development
• Experience with XML transformation
• Experience implementing e-commerce applications
• Experience integrating ERP systems such as accounting, inventory, supply chain management and other business applications
• Experience interfacing and communicating directly with clients
• Some knowledge of UI
• 1 -- 2 years experience leading development teams
Required Education and Training:
• B.Sc. or M. Sc. In Computer Science or a related degree
