The .Net SOA Architect will play a technical leadership role in an area responsible for building enterprise services and contributing to a technical infrastructure in support of CIGNA¿s Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) strategy. The individual must have advanced analytical and technical skills coupled with the ability to mentor effectively. The individual will be the primary .NET resource on the team. Therefore, a proven track record delivering .NET services is a must. A preference will be given to candidates that also have Java and J2EE experience.

Qualifications
Qualifications include: at least 8 years of recent experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting computing applications in a large-scale, distributed environment as a Software Developer.

-Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
-Ability to think strategically and implement iteratively. Ability to estimate financial impact of design/architecture alternatives.
-Proven track record of success in challenging the status quo, implementing new ideas and designs with a practical orientation.
-Business area subject matter expertise preferred.

Technical Qualifications:

-Strong background in systems architecture and relevant technologies, high availability design, web and application server environments, session management, transaction management, middleware messaging, content management.
-Significant implementation experience and a proven track record in supporting successful infrastructures in a multi-tier and high volume transactional environment.
-Experience creating benchmark tests, designing for scalability and performance, and designing/integrating large-scale systems.
-Experience designing and building n-tier architecture-based applications with direct involvement in each tier: mainframe, midrange, and desktop.
-Expert-level knowledge of distributed technologies, with a strong ability to work with and communicate effectively with mainframe and distributed system designers, architects (application, infrastructure, integration), and database administrators.
-Expert-level knowledge of SOA, middleware technologies, messaging frameworks, and web-services standards
-Experience and knowledge integrating components/systems built with .NET technologies.
-Expertise in object-oriented analysis and design; preferably service-oriented design.
-Experience with simple object access protocol (SOAP) and web services.
-Experience with Security (e.g. authentication and authorization) Architectures.
-Experience using many of the following technologies:
- Layered architecture, components and interfaces
- Languages: COBOL, C, C++, C#, ASP.NET, Java
- Development Environments: VS.NET
- Middleware: MQSeries
- Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2/UDB, and stored procedures
- Application Servers: IBM WebSphere
- Enterprise architectures with connections to others systems using COM, DCOM, CORBA
- Architectural Design using Visio, UML diagrams and Use Case documentation
- Advanced Web Services Skills: SOAP, UDDI, XML, WSDL
