Advanced Systems Java Developer
Detroit, MI
The Advanced Systems Development (ASD) organization is seeking a Java Application Developer / Architect who will contribute to the development of emerging Telematics features and services. Participate on a small team of elite developers throughout the entire systems development process from concept creation to product delivery. Projects are short in duration and technically diverse. Enterprise application architectures such as J2EE and SOA are leveraged in addition to multiple delivery channels such as interactive voice response systems, mobile devices, and in-vehicle systems.
Requirements:
- Participates on a cross-functional team to develop the feature/service concept
- Determines and documents business / system requirements and the technical solution following an Agile systems development methodology and UML
- Determines and documents Implements technical solutions following a SCRUM like development lifecycle and using Java products/technologies
- Provides subject matter expertise regarding technical aspects of the application as well as functional aspects
- Generates technical solutions for current, new and major programs
- Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
- Performs complex design analysis
- Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)
- Implements engineering changes
- Initiates documents to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data
- Defines system requirements
- Solves engineering related problems
- Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
- Plans and implements test and/or development programs
- Releases parts and subsystems for production
- Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
- Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing
- Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
- Travels as required
Experience and Education:
- MUST HAVE a BS in Computer Engineering / Science / Information Systems; Masters Preferred
- 6+ years of Java programming, J2EE, JMS, JSP, JPD, Web Services, AJAX, HTML, Javascript, etc
- 6+ years of Object Oriented Analysis and Design
- Knowledge of software and systems as it pertains to job-related area (BEA WebLogic WLS, WLI, Portal Server, and Enterprise Services Bus)
- Short Range Wireless, Mobile Devices, Wired/Wireless Communication and Session Protocols
- High degree of written and oral communication skills
- Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners and executive leadership
- Experience designing and implementing both software and hardware solutions
- Experience throughout entire systems development life-cycle
- Experience with vehicle systems development and architectures
- Enthused by the characteristics of a rapid development environment
- Capable of handling multiple diverse and complex assignments concurrently
- Automotive Experience
- Agile and/or SCRUM Experience
