PURPOSE: Aligned with a business unit, this position functions as an account manager and advocates for the business within IT. Develops business cases for new projects, proposes technology solutions based on knowledge of the business and industry standards, and provides general coordination of activities outside the scope of a project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide consulting strategies to assigned business partners in defining or designing business processes, as well as researching and identifying enabling technologies based on partner requirements. Research technical trends and competitor practices relevant to assigned business. Assess near-term needs utilizing structured interview processes to establish business priorities. Consult with technical subject matter experts and develop alternative technical solutions. Advise on options, risks, costs vs. benefits, and impacts on other business processes and system priorities. Broker services within IT on behalf of partners to coordinate end-to-end solutions. Ally with other IT functional areas to communicate status and inform management of progress, issues, risks, and conflicts. Develop, motivate, and provide leadership that facilitates the creation of a team environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, OTHER WORK CHARACTERISTICS: Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms. Experience in organizing, planning, and executing large scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors. Demonstrated track record in new concept development for various projects and complex technical plans. Ability to solve problems involving remote and elusive symptoms spanning multiple environments in a business area. Knowledge of assigned business units and processes. Experience in strategic use of IT in managing and growing business. Ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to communicate with all management levels. Strong written communication skills, including technical writing. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Understanding of how IT affects an organization and the ability to leverage redesigned business processes. Ability to be a team player; flexible, friendly, congenial, and enthusiastic. Ability to be comfortable in a nonhierarchical, flat organization, and, if required, operate under a dual reporting relationship.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related or equivalent related business analyst experience in a technical environment. Five (5) years of experience in IT business systems analysis, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms or business unit experience that includes working closely with IT in the development and implementation of systems.
