Software Engineer
Summary:
Under general supervision, works with customers to support, analyze, and resolve issues relating to the porting, adapting, and executing of a USB wireless driver from a third-party DDK for an 802.11 wireless USB bridge including coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation. This position will entail close communication with customers worldwide as well as with hardware engineers in house and may include travel as necessary for support.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is focused on work related to existing/released/third-party driver source and executables as customized for Airgain products. As customers implement the driver to their platform (Linux or Windows), this position will assist in resolving porting issues and performance issues relating to the software. Specific responsibilities include:
• Building, executing, and being the technical expert of the generic (third-party) USB driver source and executables on both Windows and Linux platforms
• Building, executing, and analyzing customer-specific implementations of USB driver source and executables for the purpose of testing and issue resolution
• Participation in communication with customers (generally with engineering) to support in the initial port of the driver software and help to resolve issues (functional, system, or performance related)
• Testing and analyzing of performance data of wireless bridges including driver and hardware at a test facility using prescribed test methodologies
• Travel as necessary to support customers (up to 20%)
Requirements:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3 years practical experience in software development of embedded systems or driver software using C/C++
• Experience with software development on Linux platforms (some Windows)
• Excellent written and oral skills and experience with remote customer support and diagnostics
• Reasonable knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP) and network setup and administration
• Pluses include direct experience with USB driver development and 802.11 wireless protocols
