About the Role
Developing websites with the scale and reliability that Marchex has is a unique and challenging technical problem. Not only must our platform serve content for 300K (+) websites like seattleinsurance.com and remodeling.com, but also deliver unique user experiences for sites like openlist.com for millions of users while gathering volumes of site performance metrics for improving and the monitoring of our websites. We need exceptional and motivated team members to join our team who can help us construct the next generation local search and advertising systems and websites.

Specific Tasks include
Design and develop components for major business systems under deadline pressure with minimum supervision.
Communicate system design and implementation details of subsystems to team members and project leads.
Complete assigned code deliverables for various projects.
Write technical specifications.
Write maintainable and efficient code using engineering best practices.
Write unit test cases.
Mentor others when necessary.
Prototype new ideas in spec or code form.
Conduct code reviews for your own code or for code implemented by other team members.
Triaging bugs.
Deploy code into both test and production environments.
Targeted Qualifications
5 to 9 yrs software development experience.
5 to 9 yrs extensive knowledge of Perl.
3 to 5 yrs extensive knowledge of PHP, CSS and HTML.
Thorough knowledge of Linux (cvs, cron, bash, rsync, etc).
Good software architecture and debugging skills.
5 yrs of development with SQL.
