Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone to work within our database team to build, manage, and maintain Marchex database systems. You are a mid-level database administrator (DBA) that can work closely with our Senior Oracle and MS SQL DBAs to support and expand our mixed database environment.
Some of your specific tasks include:
Planning and executing preventative database maintenance as well doing software patch management and implementation.
Database performance monitoring and proactive performance enhancement activities.
Administering security rights for users and applications within the database environment, ensuring the integrity of database systems and data, and partnering with teammates for integration with access/authentication architecture and controls.
Capacity planning including equipment, database software licenses, and related requirements and associated costs.
Lead or actively participate in change and release management control mechanisms and change control processes for database modifications.
Ensure backup and recovery of databases to application specifications including testing of restore of critical systems.
Targeted Qualifications
3+ years of enterprise production database experience, including experience in managing and administering Oracle and/or MS SQL database servers.
3+ years of SQL experience including analysis of complex queries.
3+ years experience in an enterprise scale (7x24) production environment, including the design/implementation of high-availability redundant database architectures, backups and recovery.
Able to administer and manage databases developed primarily for in house applications.
DBA certifications a plus.
Knowledge and experience with MS SQL, Oracle, and mysql databases a plus.
Ability to work both as an individual contributor and as a member of a team.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and exhibit personal initiative to address tasks and responsibilities across the production architecture is crucial.
BSCS degree or related technical degree or equivalent work experience is required.
