Enterprise User Interface (UI) Software Engineer
The User Interface Software Engineer is responsible for developing user interfaces for web sites and business applications within Information Technology. UI design involves transforming business functional requirements and use cases into a visual representation for the construction of technology solutions.
Detail Responsibilities
• Tasks include providing guidance during requirements gathering from a usability and technical perspective; wire frame design; usability analysis; graphical interface design; base HTML/CSS construction; documentation of the UI design phase.
• Responsible for UI design specifications of one or more large or critical applications or systems.
• Manages the UI design process and works with technical leads on Delivery teams to communicate UI designs and resolve implementation details for all facets of the user interface.
• Works with developers to develop answers to ad-hoc UI technical problems and ensures the UI design adheres to the application design as well as Development Standards, Best Practices, Security Guidelines and Architecture direction.
• Leads wire frame and UI design review sessions.
Required Experience
• 5-7 years professional experience in software application user interface engineering and user interface/human interaction design theory.
• 3-5 years experience in advanced web technologies.
• Experience in application process improvement.
• Experience with various wire frame techniques and persona development.
• Ability to facilitate the completion of work by individuals inside and outside the Enterprise Design Solutions organization through influence / leveraging partnerships.
• Demonstration of excellent technical, tactical, and strategic thinking.
• Outstanding oral, written and presentation communication skills .
• Strong facilitation and coaching skills.
Technical Skill Requirements:
• Proficiency in analysis methods and techniques including: Requirements Documents, Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams.
• Experience with Wire Frame Modeling software (Axure RP Pro, DreamWeaver).
• Experience in wire frame modeling/user interface design as well as usability methodolgies.
• High proficiency in HTML, XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, HTML Document Types, Image Optimization, Cross-browser Implementations.
• Familiarity with one or more of the following technologies' capabilities such as Java, JSP, Velocity, ASP, .NET, SharePoint, MOSS 03/07, jQuery.
• Experience with graphic design applications such as Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience in formal user interface/interaction design methodologies.
• Experience in formal software development methodologies.
Education Requirements:
• Computer Science Degree, Graphic/Human Interaction Design Degree or a minimum of 5 years equivalent work experience required.
• Formal Project Management Methodology a plus.
• Previous hospitality / sales and marketing industry experience a plus.
