Layer One Media is looking for a Web Developer to build Websites and Content Management Systems based on designs, specifications, and content provided by other members of the Layer One Media team. The Developer will work with a Designer and a Project Manager to ensure that a Website is completed in a timely manner.
A Web Developer's daily responsibilities may include developing standards-compliant XHTML and CSS for a new or existing Website, designing simple databases for use in a CMS, editing and creating site graphics, developing database-driven pages and application screens, testing, troubleshooting bugs, and building interface prototypes. Attention to detail is vital, as maintaining the integrity of a design is of utmost importance at Layer One Media.
Attitude is also an important part of this position. A Developer must be team-oriented and able to provide suggestions or recommendations when questions come up in the development process. A Developer must also be willing and able to continually learn and improve their skills and work with new and emerging technologies to create strong solutions for our clients.
To be considered, a candidate for the Web Developer position should have:
-Bachelor's Degree
-1-3 years of professional experience in the Web industry
-XHTML & CSS expertise
-Server-side & database experience (preferably ColdFusion / .NET)
-Eagerness to learn and develop along an established career path
-Openness to criticism and even scrutiny
-Good communication skills -- not afraid to raise issues, communicate needs or ask for help; good writing skills
Flexibility and an understanding of all aspects of Web marketing make for a stronger Web developer. To that end, Developers will be given frequent opportunities to hone their development skills and even branch out into other areas of interest such as project planning, application architecture and interface development.
