System Analyst Linux / Windows

Support for the Linux and Windows environments associated with production and development, which includes customer-facing production systems located in the APX data centers, pre-production/QA system and development systems located in the California facility. Duties will include provisioning and deployment of new servers per established procedures, and the maintenances of those systems to established service level commitments for our 24x7 global operations.



Responsibilities:

• Build and deploy systems per established procedures.
• Daily monitoring and maintenance of approximately 50 Linux and Windows servers.
• Provide development support related to application and production requirements.
• Testing and application new software and maintenance patches.
• Maintain continuous system availability to meet 24x7 requirements.
• Complete security audits as required.
• Maintain department procedures as requirements change.
• Perform other job-related duties as required.



Qualifications:

Related Experience:
• 5+ years Linux server administration experience.
• 3+ years Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience.
• 5+ years Windows server 2000/2003 administration experience.
• Proven experience in a multi-server/operating system environment using HP Proliant hardware.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows security settings.
• Ability to gather requirements, design, and implement appropriate solutions.
• Strong process oriented experience in terms of implementation and completion of projects.
• Strong documentation capabilities on the implemented solutions and maintenances of those solutions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers -- networking and storage.
• Knowledge of Oracle Unbreakable Linux (Red Hat Enterprise) a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Linux security settings required.
• Strong knowledge of Windows server 2000 and 2003. Windows server 2008 a plus.
• Knowledge of Windows security settings required.
• Familiarity with relational databases -- Oracle and MS-SQL a strong plus.
• Good working knowledge of storage environments (DAS, SAN, iSCSI).
• Experience with Microsoft IIS, Apache, and Tomcat web application environments, which includes security settings.
• Scripting knowledge and application of that knowledge for administration automation
• File Replication, File System Tuning, Upgrade and Configuration.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills -- verbal and written.
• Ability to work in a team environment by accepting and providing input on company procedures.
• Excellent documentation of new and modification of existing processes and procedures.
