Siemens is looking for a staff software engineer with strong Java development experience interested in supporting an industry-leading enterprise software platform that maximizes the value of Siemens' new Meter Data Management solution for electric utilities. The ideal candidate will have experience problem solving and debugging in an enterprise software environment, computer software background, and client support experience. The candidate will be working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse team of support and deployment engineers, business/data analytics experts, QA and development engineers. The qualified candidate will have 4+ years experience in a fast-paced software environment and will contribute to the growth of the support services team in pursuing our goal of exceeding customer expectations in software support. The candidate should also be comfortable driving resolution of customer issues and bug fixes, perpetuating support service standards, and working well in front of customers. The candidate will also take on the roll of Technical Lead for large software projects for electric utility operations clients which implies the individual will be involved in gathering software requirements, building a software solution for the client, delivering the solution to the customer, staging acceptance tests, etc.; some travel is required.
Responsibilities:
• Participate in full life cycle of product development. Be able to apply analytical and creative problem solving to functional requirements and facilitate application design.
• Do coding, unit test and related documentation with minimal supervision using oral or written initial specification.
• Work with source code control, build, release and defect tracking tools and processes.
• Participate in peer code and doc review.
• Analyze existing code and be able to support bug fixes and enhancements.
Requirements:
• Demonstrated 2+ years of experience in design and development using the following technologies - Core Java, SQL, RDBMS(Oracle), JDBC, XML, Multithreaded Applications, Object Oriented Modeling, At least 1 IDE ( preferably Eclipse), at least some type of Source control experience (preferably CVS), JUnit, Linux basics, Ant basics, Defect tracking basics.
• Nice to have JMS, message oriented middleware, Distributed Multi-Tier applications, Web Services, Spring, SOAP, UML.
• Excellent analytical, creative problem solving, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver implementation with minimal supervision.
• BS in Computer Science, equivalent degree or work experience.
