Vanguard, one of the world's largest investment management companies, seeks a senior-level Front-end Developer who understands how the combination of design and technology can provide the best interactive Web experience to our clients. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about building our visions into reality using industry-standard tools such as css, javascript, AJAX, flash, actionscript, flex, and open source.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop web-based solutions to realize website design visions and interface concepts.
* Collaborate and self-manage with a team of user experience information designers, architects, usability engineers, writers, business leads and other interface developers.
* Experienced and knowledgeable about Design principles and user centered design process.
* Skilled at mentoring junior level developers.
* Creates documentation, including design strategy, best practices and UI element specifications.
* Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
* Undergraduate degree in the field of Information Technology or Design or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
* 2+ years demonstrated development experience with advanced HTML, XML, CSS, and Javascript.
* Experience leading others and managing complex projects.
* Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
* Ability to collaborate in a team environment-a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of designers, information architects, and usability engineers-to support Vanguard's business goals.
* Working knowledge of the financial services industry preferred.
* Ability to mentor others in new technologies
* Strong desire to learn new technologies.
Advanced or has a good understanding of the following:
* HTML
* XML
* CSS
* JavaScript
* AJAX
* Actionscript/Flash
* Yahoo toolkit or similar open source libraries
* Web Standards
Basic understanding of the following:
* Adobe CS3
* Flex
* Java
* Java Server Page (JSP)
* SQL Database
* Version control tools, such as PVCS Version Manager or Subversion
