POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Media
Manager will oversee the development of short and long term strategic digital
communications for the college's diverse constituencies. The Digital Media Manager
will redesign and expand the college's multimedia web presence through creative
direction and development of rich content, managing the entire process from
conceptualization to implementation.
Responsibilities include:
• Manage the entire multimedia communications initiatives for the Office of
Marketing and Communications, providing hands-on project leadership as
associate producer, technical director, animator, and editor for TV, radio,
streaming, and PodCast programming, as well as Video News Releases.
• Develop strategic messaging campaigns for Daktronics marquee; design
and implement animation sequences; and develop and oversee a
comprehensive messaging schedule.
• Manage the conceptualization, design, and re-launch of the college's
Communications websites and digital media initiatives.
• Make recommendations to purchase and implement new technology when
necessary.
• Create visual identity and content guides for diverse programmatic initiatives.
• Create and maintain all production and programmatic schedules.
• Design and develop multimedia website page profiles for individual faculty
members, creating a media resource guide and City University Experts
database.
• Serve as digital media graphic designer, including manipulation and web
optimization.
• Supervise work-study students, interns and clerical staff.
• Manage the maintenance of software, hardware, and filing of reference and
archival footage and materials.
• Maintain current and develop new professional contacts within the industry.
• Keep up to date on developments within the technology sector and digital
media industry.
• Perform related duties as appropriate and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience required. A demonstrated
proficiency in TV and audio production as well as interactive web communications
and marketing preferred. Certifications for Avid Media Composer; Adobe After
Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Apple DVD Studio Pro and animation for Autodesk
Maya also preferred. Strong project management, administrative, design and
marketing skills, and a high level of competence in the field of digital media with
excellent MAC skills and PC proficiency desirable.
An understanding of industry trends and technologies, industry standards and best
practices, Web architecture, Web site design and development and Web tools
preferred. Experience with content development, graphic design, Web browser
compatibility knowledge, and demonstrated supervisory experience highly desirable.
Experience in, or an understanding of, higher education communication needs.
