Position Summary

The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration of a distributed Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory/Exchange Messaging environment. Also responsible for support of network equipment for LAN/WAN connectivity and VM Ware/SAN environment

Essential Responsibilities

Experienced to Expert at administration, security, maintenance, patch management, upgrades and troubleshooting of Windows 2000 / 2003 Servers and 2003 / 2007 Exchange in a mixed environment.
Experienced to Expert in the Messaging Infrastructure including SPAM, mail and web clients, Public Folders and NetNews groups.
Experienced to Expert in the day-to-day administration, security, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the company's LAN/WAN and Internet resources including IOS patches and upgrades.
Coordinate the design and installation of Microsoft Active Directory, including Windows Servers and Exchange Servers company-wide.
In depth understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policies
Configure and manage a virtual server environment utilizing VM Ware connected to a SAN utilizing fiber and iSCSI technology.
Configure and manage Storage Area Networks (SAN) (fiber/iSCSI)
Create and troubleshoot various logon and network management scripts using VB Script
Coordinate the design, installation and management of enterprise wide antivirus solution.
Design and implement LAN/WAN solutions and upgrades enterprise wide.
Produce system configurations and procedural documentation, including the preparation of Visio network diagrams.
Provide 24x7 support.
Troubleshoot mail routing, data replication, data backup, web access, SMTP gateways, server clusters, network area storage servers, etc.
Creates user accounts and maintains security levels on systems and file shares.
Provides Second and Third-level telephone support and problem resolution.
Some desktop support as required.
Monitors existing infrastructure (servers, replication, mail routing, routers, firewalls, switches, etc.), ensuring proper working order, using various monitoring tools to proactively minimize downtime of the environment.
Follow change management and problem ticket tracking procedures.
Manages branch office integration into existing Active Directory forest and WAN.
Ensures that backup, recovery and security procedures are setup and performed; both at Corporate and branch offices.
Provides technical expertise for all branch office IT personnel in the areas of Windows Server, Exchange messaging system and Active Directory, Internet Access & Security and Wide Area Network.
Occasional travel required to support remote sites.
Attend training classes and conferences as required.
Provides new application ideas to company where new technology can be used to gain greater efficiency and improve company productivity.
Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
Maintains monitoring and alerting systems to ensure minimal downtime for Infrastructure resources
Qualifications
Strong team player; excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
The ability to work professionally with diverse internal and external contacts at all levels.
Minimum of 7 years managing Windows NT/2000/2003 Server in multi-server, multi-site, national environment.
Minimum of 5 years managing Windows 2000/2003, Server/Exchange 2000/2003, and Active Directory background using multiple domains.
Strong knowledge of Cisco Systems -- Routing, Switching and Security products.
Well versed in TCP/IP networking as implemented by Microsoft including DHCP, DNS, and WINS.
Advanced in troubleshooting techniques and skills of Windows Server, XP workstation and Exchange systems.
Microsoft MCSE/MCSA preferred.
Cisco Certification CCNA preferred.
Experienced designing and managing multi-site, national WAN
