This Principal Product Manager is responsible for driving strategy and requirements for one product as defined in the product hierarchy and acts as a team lead for various types of product management activities.
For Strategy and Planning -- build, update and communicate the product line vision, manage P&L for product and drive the positioning and interaction of the product within the product portfolio and its integration with other products.
For Product Development -- function as the primary SME (subject matter expert) on the product and its target market, understand competitive landscape from strategy to functional capabilities, and will write product requirement documents that define the features and capabilities required to address market opportunity.
For Go to Market -- provide input to solution/product marketing for the go-to-market plan, supports the launch team and will drive market acceptance' by evangelizing product to all stakeholders.
For Life Cycle Management -- actively manage pricing and packaging as a profit and market penetration lever, and actively manage the product across the entire life cycle. This position will also maintain the ongoing customer acceptance of the product in the field, and drive field enablement by ensuring the proper materials are available in the field.
Key Requirements
• Typically 7 or more years in an industry related role
• Typically will have worked in technical support, system administration or product development type roles with exposure to marketing
• Must have knowledge and understanding of products, competitive offerings and market drivers
• Must have complete understanding and wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in the field
• General knowledge of other related disciplines
• Strong competence with the various tools, procedures, programming languages used to accomplish the job
• Business travel of approximately 50% yearly is expected for this position
• Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent required in a related field, MBA preferred
