This is a contract/ full-time position.


Our client is located in Palo Alto, CA. They are looking for someone who has worked on high-traffic web services. The right candidate should be able to understand requirements, perform capacity analysis & service configuration with the following skills:

Required Technical skills:

* 6 years + experience with GNU/Linux (or Unix) on working on high traffic websites (Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Change management).
* Good understanding of IP Networking and devices (preferably Cisco). Should be able to analyze network behavior, use tools like tcpdump, failure modes of networking devices and application issues.
* Strong Shell scripting skills, troubleshooting & performance tuning skills & understanding of networking protocols.

Competencies:

* Good communication (verbal & written), problem solving, analytical & organizational skills.
* Should be able to work on-call duty as well as out-of -band requests.
* High standards for technical documentation
* Ability to work as part of a close-knit, cross-functional team with both technical and non-technical team members.
* Ability to prioritize work queue & have ownership, urgency & drive.

Extra Credits for experience with:

o Java Application Servers (Client runs Resin) and the ability to troubleshoot live website applications and tune performance
o Red Hat operating systems
o Leading projects with outside teams
o SQL; Postgres
o Configuring desktop Linux systems
o Experience with Python
