The Data and Migration Architect will envision how a logical design translates into one or more physical databases, and how data flows through successive stages. The Data and Migration Architect is responsible for leading the design, structure, organization, and maintenance of data, and will address issues of data migration and integration.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Lead the successful effort to define, design, develop and implement the data architecture framework to support legacy and future Taxpayer Services systems.
Perform the Lead Data Architect/Migration role on large Taxpayer Services technical projects.
Mentor and provide direction to IT staff on data and migration standards on other Taxpayer Services technical projects. Review plans for Taxpayer Services technical projects to determine impact on the accuracy and accessibility of business critical data.
Evaluate internal and vendor developed software and strategies for data conversion, migration, and integration with internal and external systems.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of business customers, management, technical staff and vendors. Act as Taxpayer Services' primary liaison with Enterprise IT Services on data architecture issues.
Perform advanced level functions in the areas of business and data analysis, project management, infrastructure, and systems integration, as required.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or other related degree.
Seven years of progressively responsible and current experience in Information Technology with:
- Four years experience in data architecture, data modeling, data warehouse development, data profiling and data mapping.
- Five years experience in multiple database environments: DB2, MS Access, Oracle and SQL Server.
- Two or more years in a technical leadership position in multiple technical disciplines.
Advanced data modeling, documentation and facilitation skills.
Experience with database management systems.
Experience working with third party vendors in the successful implementation and migration of systems.
Advanced skills working with Visio software.
