Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform as a Data Warehouse Architect, the primary technical architect, responsible for using BI disciplines such as discovery, warehousing, analysis, or modeling, to provide detailed assessments of an existing BI systems or processes and develop strategies for future BI systems.
Responsibilities include”
Defining data warehouse architecture standards, best-practices and design methodology. Reviewing current Data Warehouses / Data Marts and making recommendations specific to ETL, database, data delivery.
Providing data warehouse expertise and consultancy to the agency in areas of data warehouse design, dimensional model design and optimization.
Designing the architecture for all data warehousing components (e.g. tool integration strategy; source system data ETL strategy, data staging, movement and aggregation; information and analytics delivery; and data quality strategy)
Provide oversight of tool evaluation and selection
Experience: 5 - 10 Years
Desired Level of Efficiency/Other Experience Comments:
Required -- Full CBP security clearance (background investigation)
Required - Level 1 CBP Security Clearance (Interim Background Investigation) prior to start
Required - 8 years strong technology implementation experience with at least three years in multiple full lifecycle BI/DW implementations
Experience with data warehousing / data mart design and implementation, data quality and data cleansing management, metadata management, ETL implementation, RDMS, data modeling, data analytics
Expert knowledge of full life cycle data warehouse development methodology.
Strong analytical, problem identification / solving skills
Excellent oral, written communications and presentation skills
Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts
Education: Bachelors
Desired Training/Certifications/Other Education Comments:
Required - Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (or similar discipline) required, Masters preferred.
Unique Skills:
- Candidate must meet security clearance requirements for Customs and Border Protection.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- CBP requires that for the three (3) years prior to the filing of an application for employment, individuals must meet the one or more of the following primary residence criteria:
(a) the applicant resided in the United States (short trips abroad, such as vacations, will not necessarily disqualify an applicant); or
(b) the applicant worked for the U.S. Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or
(c) the applicant was a dependent of a U.S. Federal or military employee serving overseas.
This person will work at the IBM facility in Fair Lakes, VA with significant local travel to customer site at Springfield, VA.
