Responsibilities and Duties:
For Customs and Border Protection Entry Summary and Revenue effort, the candidate will be responsible for the analysis of business, engineering, and scientific problems, and the documentation and development of well-defined methods, procedures, and programs in the delivery of practical systems solutions. Should have experience with hands-on development and implementation of software components for integration with COTS, legacy and internally developed systems. Ensures that all components of the subsystem are integrated and the design is scalable, flexible and extensible. This includes detailed software design, developing code to implement the design, debug, and unit test, and integrating the applications.
Preferred candidates will possess all of the skills listed below:
- 6-8 years of overall software development experience.
- 3-5 years experience with J2EE, preferably using WebSphere Application Server.
- 2-3 years experience with WebSphere and WebSphere Application Server 6x in a UNIX (preferably AIX) environment.
- Experience with EJB, JMS, and other J2EE technologies
- Experience with XML and related standards and technologies (e.g., XSLT, JAXB).
- Candidate should possess experience developing applications interfaces using XML and XML standards.
- Detailed design and development experience using Rational tools, preferably RAD.
Experience: 5 - 10 Years
Desired Level of Efficiency/Other Experience Comments:
Other desirable qualifications:
- experience working with Customs and Border Protection, and holding a current CBP clearance (significant plus).
- Candidate must meet security clearance requirements for Customs and Border Protection.
- U.S. Citizenship is required
Education: Bachelors
Desired Training/Certifications/Other Education Comments:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
Unique Skills:
- Candidate must meet security clearance requirements for Customs and Border Protection.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- CBP requires that for the three (3) years prior to the filing of an application for employment, individuals must meet the one or more of the following primary residence criteria:
(a) the applicant resided in the United States (short trips abroad, such as vacations, will not necessarily disqualify an applicant); or
(b) the applicant worked for the U.S. Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or
(c) the applicant was a dependent of a U.S. Federal or military employee serving overseas.
