Well-funded and fun web 2.0 company undergoing explosive growth after recent acquisition - requires a Senior Systems Administrator, experienced with video streaming or online support services - for their global web platform.

Database Server: Postgres with SQL coding abilities
Web Services: Django, Flash Media Server (FMS) and/or Red 5; Apache, Postfix, Exim, PostFix, Bind, lightppd
Based in San Francisco California, this innovative online start-up uses an introduction platform that allows users to meet, see, and hear people live in 1-minute conversations. Users can instantly experience the exhilaration of meeting five people in five minutes in topical sessions straight from their webcam.
This platform encourages spontaneity and creativity. Users can easily create their own "speed sessions" based on a myriad of diverse topics and interests or join already scheduled sessions. Contrived profiles and outdated pictures are now a thing of the past as this website replaces static expression with live interaction. One of the Investors includes "European Investor of the Year" 2006.
Required Experience
• 5 years system administration experience (ideally supporting 24/7 high traffic commercial web systems and web services)
• Experience in database administration (ideally Postgres); should have some coding experience SQL, scripting, triggers, stored procedures, etc.
• Experience with Django , Flash Media Servers (FMS) or Red 5 network services
• Experience with low-latency network mirroring at multiple/international locations
• Must have experience of keeping 24/7 high-traffic commercial web systems afloat
• Ability to work with minimum supervision; experienced at all related responsibilities (purchasing, licensing administration, support services, vendor relations, etc.)
• Linux networking and Linux system admin experience with bind, exim/postfix and Lightppd with FCGI scripts (if not lightppd then Apache/Apache HTTP Server will be considered)
• Past experience should include supporting hundreds of 1000's of users, 20,000 concurrent, within approx 5 months via a low-latency network mirrored with servers in the US and international location (ideally -- the EU.)
Desired
• Client might entertain candidates with BEA Weblogic web server or IBM HTTP Server (HIS) experience -- instead of Lightppd
• Experience with Apache2 with modpython2 or Python; FastCGI, OpenBSD
