This mid level position performs implementation and operation of complex SQL Server database systems, ensures that all operational databases and workflow processes are working properly and accessible to authorized personnel. In this role you would be responsible for writing stored procedures and triggers, performing database system tuning and database migrations to and from SQL Server. Provides Tier 1 and 2 hands-on DBA support as necessary for production and development systems across the enterprise. Performs changes to the production database system environment and provides additional hands on support in the areas of windows administration and all hardware/software installs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Data Center Operations personnel to make sure that all databases and applications are working properly and are optimized for performance.
• Provides SQL Server support and monitors all key operational system metrics and provide monthly reporting of those metrics to management.
• Consistently working to enhance database performance and systems availability.
• Provides input to the periodic updates to the Corporate Disaster Recovery Plan to ensure plan is up to date and consistent with current practices, system configurations and operational procedures.
• Assists in coordination of support from vendors when systems experience problems. Provides 24x7 support for SQL Server based systems and other database infrastructure components.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
• Candidate should be highly technical and knowledgeable about 24x7 operations of a Data Center.
• Self starter, working knowledge of best operational practices, ability to understand the complex working of the internal workflow systems and the interrelationship of systems within the workflow.
• Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years experience with SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005 in a fast paced Data Center Operations environment.
• 5 years of hands on experience with Microsoft Windows OS Environments, TCP/IP Networking, enterprise backup/recovery systems/processes, and NAS/SAN systems
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills -- both written and verbal.
• Absolute commitment to customer service and a “can-do” attitude.
• Periodic travel within the United States is required, usually not more than 30%
Education:
• BS Degree in a technical curriculum or equivalent work experience.
