The Newberry Group, Inc. - Network Administrator

Education and Experience: BA or BS in Computer Information Systems or related area preferred.

• 4+ years relevant work experience with Windows 2003 Server, Windows Exchange 2003 and Windows SQL Server required.
• CCNA, MCSA or MCSE 2003 preferred.
• Experience with ITIL methodology preferred.
• Working technical knowledge of Server and PC operating systems.

Duties and Responsibilities: Manage Dell, HP and Compaq servers, including e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
• Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
• Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
• Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
• Ensure network connectivity of all Client and in-house servers and workstations.
• Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
• Perform network design and capacity planning.
• Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
• Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Perform server and security audits.
• Perform system backups and recovery.
• Monitor and test client network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
• Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
• Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the IT team.
Essential Functions: Able to be "on call" and occasionally provide support outside of normal working hours.
• Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office Products.
• Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Cisco, Dell, HP and Compaq.
• Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
