Compile bid packages for all shipping locations as required, distribute to carriers, assess returned rates (bid packages), negotiate rates and services and assign allocations.
Notify shipping facility and carrier of results and have contracted rates entered into JDE.
Meet with carrier sales representatives for new and changed business. Responsible for adherence and compliance with actual transportation execution to freight budget spend. Utilize metrics in conjunction with bid package to adjust carrier allocation and rate adjustments. All carrier contract management and compliance. In conjunction with Sales department, liaison with customers to facilitate or implement cost reductions and resolve ongoing issues. Update pertinent information concerning carriers, plant and warehouse information, lists, etc. Create procedures for new strategies or tasks concerning Distribution Department. Aptitude to learn or have experience with: MS Project, PowerPoint, Cognos, JDE or similar Enterprise Systems.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation Management, Supply Chain Management or Logistics is preferred; Women and minority encourage to apply.
