We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Systems Engineer to join our team at our Glendale, CA studio.
The Technology Department is responsible for all phases of development and support of a multi-protocol animation production system, and is looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer to join as a critical member of its small team. The position requires a deep understanding of the software, hardware, and process components of a 3D production system, the ability to collaborate with both technical and production leads, and the skills to help implement and easily maintain robust production systems.
Responsibilities:
•Execute day to day maintenance including problem determination, resolution, and root-cause analysis.
•Implement, test, and support 3D tools in production, including software upgrades and hardware diagnostics.
•Perform backup schedule management, tape library management, offsite storage facilitation, and data restore/recovery.
•Collaborate with technical and production leads to identify production solutions, and identify and develop automated solutions for workflow.
•Interface with vendors and manufacturers for support, trouble-shooting, and development of products.
•Measure effectiveness of existing technology processes and optimize where appropriate.
•Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to team members and technically inclined users.
Qualifications:
•Bachelors or Masters Degree in computer science or related field.
•Five to seven years experience in technical operations or production support.
•At least one year experience as a team or technical lead.
•Experience supporting the production of CG animation for film, broadcast, or games. •Experience supporting production of traditional animation a plus.
Skills Required:
•Storage Technology: NAS storage arrays, NFS, and CIFS experience required. Knowledge of other protocols is desirable but not necessary. Experience with EMC storage solutions a plus.
•Backup/Archiving Solutions: Detailed knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery schemes, scheduling, and media management. Ability to optimize backup strategies for maximum coverage and efficiency. Specific experience with Veritas NetBackup a strong plus.
•Enterprise Operating Systems: Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Linux, IRIX.
•Network Technologies: Familiarity with TCP/IP protocol. Understanding of protocol performance over high latency networks a plus.
•Programming/Scripting: Solid knowledge of at least one of the following, PERL, Python, JAVA. Familiarity with one or more of the following, C, C++, JAVA, Shell Scripting, or VBScript.
Skills Desired:
•Enterprise Operating Systems: Mac OSX
•Programming/Scripting: Familiarity with Maven, Eclipse, and subversion development tools. Development experience in Tk or Qt.
