Cobol Developer
Jacksonville, FL

Under the direction of a Programming Manager and/or Application Programmer Consultant, receives, reviews and schedules project assignments as received, to be completed in a timely manner and of the required quality
Provides high level consulting services to Washington Mutual personnel, internal development teams, and Custom dedicated team (e.g., advises client on complex issues involving technology or system functionality
Evaluates various technical and business solutions as well as sizing effort and makes recommendations to analysts and the client
Researches and designs enhancements and modifications to existing programs
Completes complex programming assignments by defining specifications, writing new or modified code, and testing the code to verify the project requirements are satisfied
Creates test files by copying files, extracting data, or generating manually
Acts as a technical resource
Participates in code and design reviews
Performs certain administrative duties
On-call duties
Participates in self-development activities and company training
Acts as coach for programmer trainees as assigned
Overtime may be occasionally required to meet project deliverables
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
Current MSP core systems hands-on knowledge in Applications development support in Mainframe COBOL, CICS, JCL, Batch.
Knowledge of program/test/file utilities such as TSO, Xpediter, FileAid, Intertest.
Working MSP knowledge, Project estimating, documentation experience helpful.
