Overview
Our client, a major BC Organization is looking for three full time Data Warehouse developers to work specifically on business intelligence / data warehouse projects.
This role requires an individual that has the ability to interface with key business partners to understand business requirements, make recommendations, and then deliver the technical solution. The work will involve creating design documents, analyzing new and current systems to quickly identify required sources and targets, preparing data models and designing and creating transformations that are consistent with the goals of the existing data warehouse.
Responsibilities
Working with Business Analysts and project teams to understand data analysis and reporting requirements (including Crystal reports and Microsoft Analysis Services cubes) and implementing the solution.
Working closely with the data warehouse delivery and support teams to translate functional/technical specifications and logical data models into working databases.
Ensuring Data Quality measures are incorporated though data profiling, cleansing, and Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL) audits.
Developing, adhering to, and being a proponent for Data Warehouse development standards, metadata management and quality assurance best practices.
Working on / or leading several BI projects simultaneously.
Creating technical designs
Analyzing new and current systems to identify required sources and targets
Preparing data models
Estimating work effort
Preparing project plans for the technical component of the work
Coding/Unit Testing/SIT Testing
Skills and Experience
Strong SQL and PL/SQL in an Oracle 9i and Unix environment
On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) using Microsoft SQL Server (Analysis Services) and Business Objects OLAP reporting (OLAP Intelligence /
Crystal Analysis)
Business Objects reporting (Crystal Reports) and distribution (Business Objects Enterprise / Crystal Enterprise ePortfolio) Hummingbird BI (BI/Query) Quest Software
Demonstrated skills in Data Warehouse methodology
Knowledge of IMS, DB2, PL1, JCL and MVS would be an asset
Advanced knowledge of quality assurance practices relating to software development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as this position may also involve team lead responsibilities.
Education and Certification
This role calls for a post-secondary education related to Business Systems and Information Technology.
