Job Description:
Senior level position within the build and release team. This is an extremely important position providing support and guidance to the development and QA teams at AdBrite.
Reporting to: VP of Engineering
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement build management and release processes. Guide the improvement of the build and release process by leading discussions encouraging team feedback and support.
• Work closely with the QA and operations team to ensure that an appropriate configuration management system is in place and functioning for code and system environments.
• Manage the source control repository in conjunction with the other build and release team members. Recommend tools to improve the development and QA processes.
• Automate processes to support development and QA. Develop automation systems and code as required. Perform code reviews for your team and others within the department.
• Work closely with the QA team to develop best practices for production error reporting, log analysis, log processing, etc. Develop new techniques for dealing with exceptionally large data sets and diverse data centers.
• Assist the operations and build teams with software deployments to the production systems. Ensure quality software development processes are implemented and proper programming and release procedures are adhered to. Actively research and implement tools and processes to enhance team productivity and system quality. Abide by the AdBrite coding specification and modify it when necessary.
• Work closely with the Product Development Team to define and prioritizing product enhancements. Comment on feasibility and effort analysis as appropriate.
Required Skills:
• Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to work independently
• Must check your ego at the door and be able to work well in a tight group of enthusiastic engineers
Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience on a build and release team.
• 2+ years LAMP development, PHP a plus.
• 2+ years of Shell or other scripting languages
• Solid understanding of at least one source control system.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated knowledge of Subversion (svn), particularly administrating a repository, is a huge plus.
• Experience building packages with RPM and yum.
• Unix/Linux system administration or operations experience.
• Familiar with bug tracking systems.
• Experience with virtual environments such as VMware and Zen.
• Experience with Java deployment (Ant or Maven)
• Undergraduate degree in applicable field, preferably Computer Science or related field
