Overview:
As part of the ChoicePoint, INC. Corporate Technology Team, you will be responsible for the following:
* Develop and promote standard operating procedures. Develop, monitor and maintain standard backup procedures and offsite storage and retrieval of the backups. Define backup requirements (this includes daily backups as well as plan for disaster recovery.)
* Plan and perform software and hardware installations, upgrades to operating systems, applies firmware patches and layered software packages. Install new servers, site hardware, and sites.
* Monitor and tune the system to achieve an optimum level of performance.
- Maintain/monitor server stability (99.90% uptime, performance)
- Troubleshoot problems (TCP/IP, connectivity, hardware, etc.) and escalate problems to appropriate groups
- Work with load balancing tools (Big IP)
- Implement & manage web site security measures (IP filtering- packets, firewall, coordination w/ NOC)
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle and SQL servers
- Create scripts where needed (PERL, UNIX & NT shell scripts)
* Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers for compliance with established standards and policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
* Interfaces with database administration, production support and software developers to provide capacity reports, capacity planning.
* Facilitates and/or assist with production issues and or outage resolutions.
* Provides training for System Administrators I and II.
* Responsible for reviewing all project plans of System Administrators I and II.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* High school diploma or equivalent experience required. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or technical field is preferred.
* 5 years of Enterprise UNIX Systems Administration experience and project management exposure required. 8+ years of UNIX administration preferred.
* Experience with HP UX, Sun Solaris, TCP/IP, AIX, SGI, C++, and ORACLE including:
- UNIX based operating systems (Solaris, HP-UX, Linux)
Database Skills (Oracle, SQL Server)
- Windows Operating Systems (NT, XP, 2000, and 2003)
- Networking concepts (topologies, architectures- LAN/WAN)
- Good understanding of networking principles; routing, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP
- Systems management methodologies & software tools (SMS)
- Working knowledge of performance monitoring/tuning
- Working knowledge of network monitoring (metrics, added-value)
- Hardware expertise and troubleshooting abilities (SUN, HP)
- A basic understanding of operating systems; memory management, threads, processes
Prefer experience with the following:
* Hands on experience with LDAP servers
* Web Server Skills (iPlanet, Apache, etc)
* Application Server Skills (WebSphere, TomCat, Weblogic, etc.)
* NAS/SAN solutions
* Hands on experience with WebMethods
