This unique opportunity requires an individual with the ability to define and implement company wide Web 2.0 community initiatives. This person will interface with community members, customers, and technical and academic partners. This position reports to the VP of Product Management and is considered part of the IT team.

Responsibilities include:
• Provide the technical expertise to stand up Emergent's online community. Deliver a high quality community web presence. Ensure that the community fulfills customer support and training needs, partner collaboration, and general game industry knowledge sharing.
• Coordinate with company departments including marketing, sales, development and support to provide compelling content and interaction with the community members.
• Promote company messages to the Community through participation in relevant channels including blogs, forum/mailing list moderation, speaking appearances, media briefings, etc.
• Drive other ways to engage with the Community e.g. contests, on-line tutorials, etc.
• Monitor and respond to market developments affecting the Community.
• Work with Partner Managers to align with Commercial partner community activities and ensure effective engagement across companies.
• Provide expertise on open source licensing and contribute to potential internal GPL development discussions.
• 10% - Travel to meet with partnership companies and attend domestic conferences / community events.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience developing the infrastructure for and managing large online communities.
• A Gamer.
• Previous experience launching and building new online communities.
• Skills in building community programs and working with partners who are influential in communities.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated success working across functional organizations with strong leadership.

Valued Skills:

• Technical undergraduate degree, preferably in Computer Science
• Experience in the games industry or a passion for games
• Technical understanding of game development process
• Project management experience
