Our Client, a mid-sized integrated marketing communications agency, situated in downtown Toronto, is seeking an Interactive Technical Director to join their team.
The suitable candidate will be a technical visionary, with significant responsibility for driving the Agency's business forward from a technical perspective, and leading the evolution of their services and overall technical capabilities. The ideal candidate will have come from the development 'trenches' and maintained their hands-on know-how, while evolving into more of a business lead. Given the multiplicity of this hybrid role, the successful candidate will be a trifecta of sorts -- have sound strategic business sense, solid marketing skills, while being rooted in and engaged with technology and future online trends. This person will be responsible for improving the Agency's technical methodology, managing the Agency's overall assignments and technical resources, acting as a gate-keeper of technical standards, as well as supporting the interaction of technology with visual design.
While the successful candidate will be a powerful and influential Client-facing presenter, they will also possess the willingness to roll up their sleeves and dig in should there be a need. Our Client seeks a 'champion' of technology that will move their business and service offering to the next level, ensuring that their solutions always meet the highest standards of technical excellence and improved methodology.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years Interactive Agency experience
- Must have extensive experience in both front- and back-end technologies
- Previous experience as a web developer, with exposure to a variety of technology packages, including those within emerging media (mobile, social networking, collaboration, etc)
- Experience managing a team
- Ability to work as both a leader and part of a team
- A deep understanding of the customer experience and how to deliver solutions that provide results
- Ability to contribute to the analysis of user requirements and the development and documentation of technical and design specifications including website software development (HTML / DHTML, Flash, CSS, etc.), and programming, coding and application development (NET Framework and C#, SQL, AJAX, CMS, Java Enterprise, etc.)
- Present recommendations to clients and management alike in a clear and concise manner
- Act as the primary point of contact for all inquiries regarding the technical knowledge domain and associated vendors and products
- Build long-term client relationships reinforcing a sense of accountability and responsibility
- Participate in business development and sales engagements
- Review and approve technology solutions presented to clients
- Knowledge of servers and networking environments
- Knowledge of quality assurance, testing and deployment procedures
- Knowledge of search engine optimization techniques and experience leveraging Web analytics tools to gain insight into user behavior
Skills:
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Strong organization & project management, critical thinking and independent learning abilities
- Ability to work independently as well as execute assigned tasks efficiently and accurately
- Ability to develop client relationships through excellent client-facing skills, clear communications, and technical leadership - Can-do attitude with drive and initiative
- A deep understanding of user experience best practices
- Ability to understand business objectives and translate them into technical design
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment and be adaptable to the demands of all levels and types of production duties
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to effectively troubleshoot
- Have a creative and analytical eye for detail
- Extensive knowledge of Web-based presentation layer technologies, including CSS, HTML, Flash and JavaScript with expert coding skills
- Versatile in Object-Oriented Programming techniques
- Working knowledge of SEO, SMO, and creative media tools
- Two to three years experience with the .NET Framework and C#, SQL, AJAX, CMS; knowledge of Java Enterprise a plus
