We are looking for an experienced messaging developer who will support and extend our real-time messaging infrastructure. The successful candidate should have at least 2 years experience supporting a large messaging environment (JMS is preferred) in a fast-paced corporate environment. The candidate must be experienced in diagnosing messaging problems and be able to work closely with our messaging vendor to resolve problems. The candidate must also have strong Java development skills and be experienced in developing messaging based software. This position requires that the candidate is energetic and able to deliver production quality messaging software within tight schedules.
This role requires frequent interaction with software developers, testers, product managers and helpdesk professionals in order to ensure that we deliver a quality-trading platform to our users.
Skills/Requirements:
· BS, EE, CS or equivalent experience.
· Experience with Windows, Linux and Solaris.
· 5+ years experience with developing and supporting applications using JMS (preferably Sonic MQ).
· Strong knowledge of Java and JMS, a must. Don't bother applying if you are not strong in both areas!
· 4+ years experience in the IT industry working in the area of product and/or application development a must.
· Experience with multicast preferred, plus any experience with CORBA, IONA or Tibco a plus.
· 3+ years developing in Java required. Professional experience developing in C a plus.
· Good verbal and written communication skills required.
· Strong knowledge and experience in team development using Java required.
· Ability to work independently and as a part of team.
· Good working knowledge of software testing and building high quality software and experience with software testing tools, regression testing, performance testing, a plus.
· Experience with trading floors/traders/exchanges/commodities a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Manage and monitor the JMS infrastructure; perform problem diagnosis and resolution. Provide Tier-2 support for brokers in Production.
· Provide details of bugs/problems to JMS provider and work with vendor to resolve problems.
· Install new JMS products and maintain JMS monitoring tools.
· Assist in maintaining the optimal performance of the JMS infrastructure.
· Design and execute performance messaging benchmarks
· Certify JMS-based applications are production ready from a JMS perspective.
· Maintain JMS environment documentation
· Attend training and technical review meetings setup by the JMS provider.
· Develop software that uses JMS and other messaging products
· Work with development team to ensure the JMS infrastructure meets the performance, scalability and fault tolerance requirements of their application.
· Assist configuration management team in the deployment process.
· Evaluate various messaging products
· Follow the company's software development processes and standards
· Study new technology and remain technically current
