Responsibilities
The Senior Systems Engineer (Altiris BU) will work with the sales team in a pre-sales role to develop and position solutions involving clients products. Incumbents may determine methods and procedures on new assignments without considerable direction. Often performs at the project leadership level. May provide guidance to lower level professional staff but has no formal supervisory responsibility. Delivers presentations and participates in conference call discussions. During the qualifying process, confirm that clients products meet the prospect's requirements and assist sales in technical qualification. Articulate and demonstrate client solutions, and position products relative to competition. Actively deliver presentations at high level speaking engagements at seminars and trade shows. Write technical white papers. Mentor other Systems Engineers within the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. This position may require travel throughout an assigned region, such as Asia-Pacific, EMEA, Canada, Latin America, or the United States, and may call for travel with little advance notice.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related experience.
Need to have:
• 7+ years experience with Windows OS platforms XP, NT/2000 server, NT/2000 workstation, (x) DHCP requirements and specifications TCP/IP, and NT/2000/2003 server administration. Unix/Linux experiences a plus.
• 5+ years network troubleshooting and complex installations.
• 5+ workflow management systems, programming methodologies. Knowledge of network industry and infrastructures. Knowledge of common Microsoft and other enterprise infrastructure and applications (AD, Sharepoint, SQL, Exchange, etc.)
• 5+ years pre-sale or presentation experience
• 3+ year's prior industry experience including asset management, workflow management.
• 2+ year's prior change management exposure to products such as Altiris, LANDesk, SMS, ON Command CCM or Novadigm or Asset Management, Helpdesk products, such as Peregrine, BMC/Remedy, and Workflow systems such as K2, MSFT WWF.
