POSITION TITLE: Application Developer
LOCATION: Concord, Ontario
DURATION: Full-Time, Permanent
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Application Developer's role is to design, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software applications in support of the achievement of our client's business requirements. With direction from the Director of Applications and a Project Manager, the Application Developer will perform the following System Development Life Cycle tasks which include, but are not limited to, defining business requirements, creating functional specifications, developing technical specifications and technical documentation, coding and unit testing, system integration, user acceptance testing and technical support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Application Developer will be responsible for all aspects of the application development, including design, documentation, reports, program coding, installation, and support. He/she will be required to develop functional and technical specifications for new applications as well as enhancements to existing applications based on business requirements supplied by the Project Manager or the Director of Applications. The Intermediate Application Developer will be expected to liaison with end-users, technical support staff, networking manager, and other non-technical employees with regard to the support and enhancement of the system. The Application Developer is expected to be pro-active in this role, identifying opportunities to improve the system as well as show initiatives by learning more about the business aspects of the entire supply chain and CRM processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills:
- Proven AS/400 development experience with RPG/400/RPG ILE and CL programming
- Experience with Client Access, WDSC/RSE, SEU, SDA, RLU, IFS, SQL, subfiles, subprocedures, database triggers/constraints, journaling/commitment control, and data queues
- Understanding of AS400 operational tasks such as job/print queue management and various types of files backup methodologies
- Understanding of order management and WMS systems (must understand concepts of purchasing, receiving, adjustments, physical/cycle count, reconciliation, standard costing, average costing)
- Understanding of financial accounting principles - must be able to interact with accounting personnel from Accounts Receivable (Credit) Accounts Payable and General Ledger (Finance)
- Must understand fundamental networking concepts
- Good communication skills - verbal and written
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with verbal direction
- Microsoft Office XP
Desired Skills:
- Experience in EDI processing with GENTRAN
- Experience in FTP processing
- ASP/HTML/Flash/XML programming experience
- Magic eDeveloper programming experience
- SQL Server 7/2000
