Position Responsibilities -- Summary
Help lead the development efforts for critical desktop applications -- Position reports into the Directory of Technology. This key contributor will:
· Be part of collaborative Desktop Applications sub-team
· Inherit a large client/server application code base as a base point
· Take ownership of new versions and iterations
· Participate in broad-based re-envisioning and re-imagining of one of the company's core technologies, which powers much of our operations and marketing efforts
· Participate in technical requirements definition
· Bring widget/WinApp best practices and cutting edge technologies to the project
Required Skills and Competencies:
· BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
· 7+ years experience in Windows application development, graphical user interface design, and software installation -- Strong UI experience needed -- Preference is for someone out of a Software Vendor firm -- Needs to understand release processes -- upgrades -- remote installation etc. - Remotely delivered services including technician-based support, data backup, managed security and other hosted technology solutions.
· Any current or previous experience working for one of the Anti -- Virus software product companies or a related type product firm would be a great plus.
· Expert in C++ programming language, focusing on MFC -- This will be the primary language used.
· 2+ years experience in a senior role for commercial software development using .NET
· Prior experience with C# programming language, ASP.NET and MS SQL Server web application development technologies such as web services
· Detailed knowledge of object-oriented programming, development best practices, and software business fundamentals
· Strong problem-solving and communication skills
· Interest in collaborative environments and waterfall development methodology
· Must possess strong skills in the areas of application design, solid API design principles and have a strong understanding of customer and workflow issues
