Description
* Manages complex programs to deploy product and/or technology initiatives.
* Acts as overall leader of the program and all projects and teams within it. * * Manages project managers and other project team leads assigned to the program --reviews and provides feedback on project deliverables and project management activities.
* Identifies risks and risk plans; manages and mitigates risks.
* Anticipates issues and manages their resolution.
* Coordinates inter-project dependencies, including those with projects outside the program.
* Influences stakeholders, team leaders and teams to achieve project goals.
* Proactively communicates with stakeholders, team leaders and teams.
* Acts as liaison among Champion, Sponsor and Steering Committee.
* Provides feedback and information to Champion and Sponsor.
* Reports issues, problems, status and successes to stakeholders, team leaders and teams.
* Ensures that metrics are gathered, analyzed and reported.
* Provides leadership, coaching and guidance for project managers in the PMO. May supervise 2-4 project managers as direct reports.
Qualifications
* At least 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in project management managing technology and product related projects.
* Bachelor's degree in project management or information technology. (Master's degree preferred.) Equivalent experience may be considered.
* PMP certification from the Project Management Institute preferred.
* Management experience in e-commerce/ internet company. Experience managing the technical development and deployment of internet products.
* Prior experience working for Big 5/ Fortune 500 companies.
* Expert knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, project management methodologies, product/system development lifecycles and project management tools (specifically MS Project).
* Very strong leadership skills. Results driven and goal oriented. Highly motivated and able to take initiative; demonstrated ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
* Ability to organize and prioritize. Strong problem solving skills.
* Ability to multi-task. Ability to adapt, and thrive, and lead through change.
* Very strong team-building and teaming skills.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both IT and the business.
* Demonstrated expertise in organizing project teams, including interviewing and hiring. Ability to work with remote project teams.
* In depth experience developing project schedules and budgets and tracking progress and costs. Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and under budget.
* Good understanding of applicable technical concepts, strategies and architectures.
* Willingness to work flexible hours.
