This position could be based out of many major cities in the Western or SouthCentral US, including Dallas, the greater Los Angeles area, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, or Denver, CO.
Sirius currently has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Sr.-level consultant with strong skills in IBM System p systems/AIX operating systems, HACMP, IBM Storage and SAN. This customer-facing, services delivery role will involve up to 75% travel to customer sites across the Western & South Central US. This position will involve providing billable services to our customers in a number of areas, including. but not limited to: hardware/software installations, implementation of specialized software (ie., HACMP and Tivoli Storage Manager), system integrations/transitions, troubleshooting customer environments, and reviewing/recommending systems designs and implementations. This position will require frequent travel (approx. 75%) and some weekend work.
# Knowledge & Implementation Skills Required: Strong knowledge of AIX operating systems
# Strong knowledge of the IBM System p platform, LPAR skills
# Strong knowledge of IBM Storage Subsystems (ESS, DS4000 series, FAStT)
# Strong knowledge SAN switches and director (Cisco, McData, Brocade)
# Strong knowledge of HACMP and/or TSM (both preferred)
# Excellent verbal and written communication skills
# Ability to speak with enthusiasm and confidence in order to retain customers and garner respect of staff
# Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge & Implementation Skills a plus:
# Intel knowledge
# NetApp Storage experience a strong plus
# SUN/Solaris
# IBM SAN Volume Controller
# Total Storage Productivity Center
# Oracle
# IBM Storage DS8000 Series
Education/Experience:
# Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
# Five years technical work experience preferably in a consulting environment
Travel:
# Travel to various client locations and some weekend work required - quantity varies by location
# Current driver s license required
# Air travel capability required
