Our client, located in Syracuse is currently in need of a PC Network Support Specialist for a 6+ month contract assignment. The candidate will monitor disk space reporting and resolve any issues that arise and also perform daily system backups utilizing IBM Tivoli Storage Management (TSM), file restores and file transfers. Tasks may include operating and monitoring UNIX AIX, Windows and VMS servers/computers, printers, tapes and disk drivers.
The candidate assigned to this position may also provide technical support for personal computers, PC and associated networks. He/she will install, troubleshoot, service, and repair personal computers and network equipment such as servers, modems, multiplexers, related PC software, telephones, cables, and connectors.
The candidate selected will also provide personal computer, hardware, and software support. He/she will install, service, and repair personal computers and install attendant software. Job duties also include, but are not limited to the following: Connects personal computers and terminals to existing data networks. May maintain network diagrams and circuit records. Maintains trouble logs. Instructs users in the use of personal computers and networks. Investigates information, network, and communications needs of users, and makes recommendations regarding software and hardware purchases. Performs basic PC, PBX, and network software programming and associated networks.
Candidates must be eligible for immediate employment in the US.

1-2 years prior experience in a Network Support role
Prior working experience in a UNIX environment
