Responsibilities
***The most important aspect of this position is management experience along with hands-on Oracle RAC experience***
1. Manage the North America ITP EQD Database Systems Team whose technical responsibilities include Oracle and Sql Server clustered and non clustered databases, Sybase ASE database and Rep Server, Oracle and Sql Data Warehouses, Infrastructure for Systems Monitoring.
2. Provide strong leadership and direction to Database Systems team with strong mentoring and technical skills.
3. Architect database solutions based on existing and emerging technologies and align their benefits with the business strategy and needs of the businesses.
4. Provide level 2 support, perf. optimization & troubleshooting for all areas of responsibility of N.America DB Systems.
5. Provide after hours support on a weekly rotation basis.
6. Provide 24/7/365 hands-on support when required for all areas of responsibility of the team.
7. Liaise with Equity, Clearing application and business clients to gather requirements, design and deploy standard systems which clearly differentiate between production, development, UAT, and DR.
8. Ensure timeliness of project implementation and issue resolution and adherence to committed service levels.
9. Maintain excellent communication with local and global teams, IT, developers and business users for all requirements and issues.
10. Delegate technical issues, tasks and responsibilities to appropriate team members, within a defined project management, change control and incident management framework.
11. Maintain complete inventory and documentation of deployed systems and managed applications.
12. Ensure that all systems are backed up & monitored according to business requirements & notify data owners when there are failures.
13. Identify operational inefficiencies and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development team as well as supported businesses in an effort to optimize, make corrections and mitigate risks.
14. Ensure optimal resilience of deployed systems and meet all disaster recovery and compliance requirements dictated by the business.
15. Establish and enforce standards, best practices, policies and procedures pertaining to database management and architecture, security, compliance/ regulatory requirements, maintenance and performance.
16. Cross train members of the Database team in all responsibilities and maintain a daily and weekly rotation schedule for these.
17. Maintain a regular project planning, review and meeting schedule with team, peers, management and clients.
18. Work with the Finance, local & global Procurement teams to manage product licensing, vendor relationships & identify cost savings opportunities.
19. Create and present business proposals and business justifications to executive level management when required.
20. Interface with external vendors in troubleshooting complex, cross-platform issues.
21. Provide comprehensive cross-training for engineers & support personnel on front-line client troubleshooting & support.
22. Participate in budget review and forecasts.
23. Perform various management/ personnel tasks in a timely, professional manner.
24. Work with individuals to establish personal career plans and performance goals, review performance against goals and conduct performance reviews.
25. Maintain top-notch management, technical skills and business knowledge through proactive self-learning in addition to any formal instructor-led training
