Our client is seeking a Data Warehouse Developer to work out of Victoria.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing technical leadership for the design, development and maintenance of existing and future data warehouse objects.
Consulting with business analysts and clients to evaluate business requirements and develop optimal data marts using a subject oriented design technique.
Designing, developing and deploying ETL processes using best practice guidelines;
Proposing solutions for gaps or opportunities for better meeting clients needs;
Assuring the integrity and validity of all data warehouse deliverables;
Ensuring all designs adhere to privacy and compliance requirements;
Managing data access security such that information security is preserved;
Ensuring designs and their implementation are traceable back to business requirements and are accepted by the end user.
End user report design, development and deployment
Assist end user with use of BI toolset and enabling performance management
Administer publication and access to data for the end user community
Design, Develop and maintain an enterprise level BI portal
Designing, developing and deploying subject oriented data marts to support mission critical data
warehouse application.
Designing, developing and deploying standard report templates.
Designing, developing and deploying extractions and ETL processes for new and existing source
data for the data warehouse.
Ensuring performance levels for data warehouse objects are met.
Ensuring data models and other system level Meta data are keep current and accurate;
Ensuring business Meta data is of high quality and available to end users for all information products available in BI.
Uses best practice system development life cycle for developing DW/BI objects.
Supports the project manager in defining scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned projects.
Prepares system documentation.

Support Project Management Activities
Skills and Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience building data warehouses
Experience with software development methodologies and tools.
Minimum 2 years experience using Cognos development tools
Experience working in an ITIL-compliant environment and/or formal ITIL education is preferred
Demonstrated understanding of best practices for system development life cycle with emphasis on BI development life cycle.
Experience with ETL tools, preference to Cognos Decision Stream, Data Manager and Informatica
Experience with database engines such as Oracle and SQL Server
Knowledge of Cognos BI toolset
Working knowledge of data models, dimension modeling (including Star Schema), and preference to experience using modeling tools such as Erwin.
Demonstrated competence in dimension modeling
Working knowledge of T-SQL & PL/SQL as they pertain to ETL processing.
Working knowledge of Meta data as it pertains to describing data and objects in the data warehouse environment, particularly data models and business Meta data describing data available to end users
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
