InfoTech Resources is seeking candidates for an iSeries / AS/400 Developer position in Knoxville, TN. Seeking a developer with COBOL and RPG coding experience in an iSeries environment. Individual will spend 50% of their time providing customer support. Responsible for taking calls and dealing with issues. Supporting all modules which range from Financials to Manufacturing. 50% of time will be coding. If it is a maintenance issue, code will be modified in COBOL. If new development, that code will be written in RPG IV. Experience with manufacturing and distribution would be beneficial. Excellent communication skills mandatory.
Responsibilities:
• Code in ILE RGP, ILE COBOL, CL, Sequel and maintain legacy Dos Pascal application. Development is 80% adding features to existing COBOL programs or fixing bugs. 20% of development is new RPG or application modernization with WebFacing or HATS or similar.
• Knowledge of EDI and FTP are needed.
• Responsible for reviewing proposed work for completeness, estimating effort and then performing work in allotted time.
• Responsible for testing own work, responding to independent test and delivering work to customer.
• Build annual release procedure including database conversions.
• Maintain OS and PTF's on the iSeries machines, internal network and build / trouble Windows workstations for internal use.
• Customer problem solver on system software / hardware issues.
• On site travel to customers to install new IBM OS and client software releases.
• Keep up with the details of the reseller relationship, notifies customers of renewals, builds configurations for new or expanded hardware and holds both of the required certifications.
