This position is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting our database infrastructure in a collaborative team environment working with software engineers and operational DBAs.
Responsibilities:
• Perform logical and physical design of databases as part of the development process.
• Create and maintain database schema objects such as tables, indexes, views, constraints and stored procedures using MS SQL Server Transact SQL (T-SQL)
• Perform root cause analysis for all problems and recommend solutions to minimize future incidents.
• Work with operational Architects, DBAs, Storage Engineers and Infrastructure teams to recommend hardware configurations for new DB systems.
• Analyze and implement optimizations for database performance tuning.
• Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Replication.
• Promote system reliability and efficiency by creating and implementing system standards and operational best practices.
• Provide technical leadership in design and implementation of MS SQL Server databases.
• Help plan feature upgrades, and plan and participate in scheduled off-hours service outage upgrades.
• Document procedures for installation and testing of database upgrades and configuration
• Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company
• Follow strong configuration management practices with deployable database code.
• Implement and enforce operational database security guidelines and procedures.
• Defines technical specifications based upon business requirements
• Determines program/project design, develops resource requirements, and prepares work estimate
• Advises clients on maximizing the capabilities of supporting system processes
• Prepare system documentation
Contacts:
This position works closely with software engineers, operational DBAs and other infrastructure teams as well as with the Business Intelligence team and occasional contact with business groups.
Requirements:
• Minimum Two-year degree in a technology related field
• At least five years of overall software industry experience with at least two years experience with MS SQL Server writing T-SQL
• OLTP
• Experience with SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
