C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures located in downtown Toronto is looking to fill a Linux / Unix Systems Administrator position immediately to work in our fast-paced 3D/2D animation production studio. Our primary application platform is Red Hat Linux, with a substantial proportion of Mac OS X and Windows XP machines. The selected candidate will join a team of talented Systems Administrators who support a significant number of 2D and 3D artists.

Digital Pictures, C.O.R.E. Toons and C.O.R.E. Feature Animation. Job Tasks
•Secondary and tertiary technical support and general troubleshooting for commercial and custom applications on all platforms and workstation setups
•Performs maintenance on a wide range of equipment and machineries
•Provide technical support to artists, developers and other employees by solving helpdesk tickets in a timely manner
•Responsible for moves, adds and changes related to workstation setups and account provisions and permissions
•Installation and configurations of system applications and services, including dns, mail, ftp, http, nis, ldap, backup/restorations, Calendar software and company database
•Installation and configuration of user/production applications (including all 2D, 3D software as well as any graphics packages and plug-ins) and administration applications such as Meetingmaker, Filemaker Pro, etc.
•May be responsible for leading a small team of junior/intermediate systems administrators
•Additional duties as required
Job Requirements:
•University degree in Computer Science an asset
•5-7 years experience as a Linux/Unix Administrator
•Experience working in an Animation/VFX production studio is an asset
•Must have an in depth understanding of the Linux environment
•Advanced knowledge of Linux kernel tuning parameters and recompiling
•Advanced knowledge of systems level scripting using tcsh, bash, PHP, Python and Perl
•In depth knowledge and experience of databases including MySQL and Postgres
•Experience with Linux application deployment is also necessity
•Mac OS and Windows application deployment and integration is a plus
•Strong working knowledge and troubleshooting experience with hardware components including internal/external RAID devices and Intel compatible PC hardware
•Experience with Apple hardware would be an asset
•Strong communication skills are essential as is a willingness to learn.
