Overview:
ITdevelopment group is currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer/Analyst, with a strong background in Information Systems and J2EE technology. This is a very senior position, requiring an individual with extensive analytical (both systems and business), technical, and leadership experience.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Systems Analyst is part of a team that designs and develops system solutions for complex business scenarios, as well as providing support for existing IT systems. The Senior Analyst will work closely with business users, technical leads, and other development personnel in all aspects of the SDLC, and have very strong systems and business analysis skills. Applicant must have extremely strong technical skills in the area of J2EE application development, with proven ability to design, develop, and implement large-scale and complex systems. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience are a necessity.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of seven years' experience as an IT Systems Analyst, with at least four years' experience in senior positions.
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Extensive technical background in J2EE application development, both as a hands-on developer, and technical / project lead.
• Self motivated to keep J2EE skill set current with latest Sun Java standards.
• Capable of collaborating with web administration team keeping production runtime environments up-to-date. Experience with IBM WebSphere is a plus.
• Experience building applications using Eclipse-based IDE is a requirement. Experience with WebSphere IDE is a plus.
• Strong object-oriented design skills. Capable of designing mid- to large-scale Java applications applying proven object oriented practices and heuristics.
• Proven track record as a technical / team lead on mid- to large-size development projects
• Strong background in design of large-scale and complex IT systems; data modeling, component-based design methodologies, and high-level and detailed design specifications
• Ability to translate business requirements into detailed application design specifications in the form of functional and technical specifications
• Experience of multi-tiered application development, involving a J2EE web front-end with an Oracle back-end using standard protocols such as JDBC, JDO and/or others.
• Ability to interpret and utilize some or all of the defined Systems Development Life Cycle methodologies, as dictated by the size and scope of the project
• Strong working knowledge of the Project Management Life Cycle; proven record of managing a project from inception to implementation
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills; extensive dealings with both internal and external customers / business partners
• Prepare proposals and estimates for potential solutions to stated business problems, many requiring multiple alternatives
• Assist in the preparation of RFI's and RFP's for submittal to COTS software vendors; experience in the evaluation and selection of COTS software based on vendor responses
• Provide production system support by analyzing and diagnosing errors and determining and initiating resolution action plans
• Provide detailed development estimates
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to complete projects by established deadlines
• Provide mentoring to more junior members of the development team
• Dependable and accountable; ability to do whatever-it-takes to get the job done
