Key Accountabilities / Activities:
This position is responsible for a number of project related deliverables within an approved Retail Markets-wide employee business information solution. This project will serve to improve the employee experience and improve accuracy of information delivered to customers by improving navigation and retrieval of information, standardizing technical writing standards, standardizing/rationalizing the technology platforms and improving efficiency and increasing reusability of information from across multiple information sources
Key Project Responsibilities/Deliverables:
1. Identify taxonomy objectives - setup initial sessions to determine the scope of the taxonomy
2. Inventory resources - identify, gather and review resources.
Resources include:
· Content types
· Proposed IA
· Existing taxonomy
· Workflow process / requirements (we've already discovered and identified some metadata that is required for the success of the new workflow)
· Analyze existing sites
· Site maps
3. Define Lexicon of terms - define the common vocabulary of terms in the taxonomy (gather the list of terms)
4. Define the Taxonomy style - define the taxonomy structure
5. Design logical taxonomy model - develop a model of how content will be stored
6. Specify Metadata and Meta tagging strategy - define fields and purpose
7. Model content - define content chunks. Although content rewrite is a future project, we might want to take advantage of their analysis to come up with preliminary but detailed content models. They can leverage our high level content types
8. Specify vocabularies - compile controlled vocabularies
9. Define techniques to populate taxonomy
10. Update existing Taxonomy to formalize the new taxonomy
11. Test and train - Manually tag small sample
Requirements:
-5+ years experience in information architecture and/or content management.
-5+ years in creative, usability, content publishing or editorial roles for application development, Intranet or Internet sites
-University degree or related experience in Information Architecture, Information Management content management strategy, or a related field
-Experience and understanding of Enterprise Content Management Systems (ECMS) preferably Microsoft Suite (SharePoint 2007)
-Experience and understanding of user experience issues, including HCI principles, Intranet design principles, W3C standards, accessibility issues, user research techniques and usability testing
-A passionate desire to understand the way people use applications and navigate to get to needed information
