Our steadily growing client in Sunnyvale, CA needs a software engineer to help build and maintain the features of their unique software package.
This is a full time opportunity complete with benefits and equity sharing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Maintains, extends and enhances tools, procedures and features to ensure that software is functional, robust, reliable and supportable.
2.Develops and implements unit and system scripts and tests to the quality of software produced.
3.Is proficient in the Perl scripting language and can demonstrate such proficiency through the regular production of features and enhancements to our product.
4.Is proficient in the C or C++ programming language and is familiar with supporting tools such as gcc, gmake, autoconf on unix platforms.
5.Makes recommendations and designs of software features and enhancements that improves the overall experience for our users and contributes to our product success.
6.Makes recommendations of ways to improve the internal management of tools, scripts and processes.
7.Is able to write portable code that will execute on multiple platforms.
8.Is responsible for working independantly and manage competing priorities.
9.Reviews quality trends, tracks the root cause of problems, and coordinates correction actions whenever issues are encountered.
10.Integrates lessons learned from resolutions of quality issues back into the the product.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Will support installation engineer in maintenance of cross-platform installation tools from time to time.
2.Will support applications engineer in supporting high touch customers and implementation of special, one-off scripts and configurations from time to time.
3.Will be responsible for integrations of the product with 3rd party applications when those integration points use the Perl or C programming languages..
4.May assist the Support Department in evaluating customer support issues to identify and resolve new failure conditions as well as automate test cases to detect such failures in future software relases.
5.Work with documentation writers to assist in preparation of release notes and user documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Four-year degree in Computer Science or related field with very technical grasp on fine details of computer science.
2.Effective human relations skills, including good listening ability and the capability to convince others to establish or change precedents.
3.Strong work ethic. Feels a strong sense of ownership of previous projects and the final outcome of their personal contribution.
4.Effective written communication skills including the ability to generate documentation and reports.
5.Critical Thinker. Ability to abstract available data, analyze complex problems, and form solutions.
